Echo Bazaar: Nemesis ambition! Tips about Venderbight. Some of them might constitute cheating.
* To take the boat from Wolfstack Docks to the tomb-colony of Venderbight, you need 500 Glim and 120 Silk Scraps. As far as I can tell, neither of these are consumed.
- You are able to sail back and forth to Venderbight at will, although taking the trip takes an action. You do not need the 500 Glim/120 Silk to travel back to the docks, but when you return to Venderbight, you will need the items again.
- That means as long as you have the glim and silk scraps in your inventory and are willing to spend actions, you can go back and forth between the Neath and Venderbight as often as you want to. This is very important.
* While in Venderbight, you do have access to the Bazaar, and if you have not held on to many items, raising your Ambition: Nemesis quality high enough to find Carrywell may involve making purchases to bribe tomb colonists.
- Items that will help you: silk scraps, ridiculous hats, an exceptional hat (if you're willing to give it up), Greyfields 1882, drops of prisoner's honey.
* At Ambition: Nemesis 15+ (about half the stuff you need to do in venderbight) the only opportunity card available is a red-bordered one that lowers your Scandal. This means that while the boat to Venderbight is available to Nemesis players, we have a guaranteed way to lower Scandal that can be used to slowly lower Scandal to 0, unlike the luck-based "attend church" storylet in your lodgings, or waiting for a day of good deeds opportunity card to roll around in the Neath.
* While you are in Venderbight, you cannot use items like F.F. Gebrandt's Tincture of Vigour. You can also not rest at your lodgings, since your lodgings are inaccessible. This means you either need to be very careful about not taking any wounds until you get to the spider-council, or be prepared to take the boat back to the Neath to rest up or consume curiosities.
- The card that involves drinking bottled oblivion with tomb-colonists will give you wounds. It will also raise your Ambition: Nemesis quality a decent amount.
* After you find out where Carrywell is, you begin a Running Battle... to get through her defenses to confront her. To even try to fight the spider-council, you need Dangerous 94. Current quality cap is at 90, so you will need lots and lots of items. The action becomes high-risk at Dangerous 99 (possibly 98? I didn't check.) If you fail, your Running Battle goes down and you take a lot of wounds (no wounds to 2), and you must repeat the action previous to get your running battle back up to 8 to fight the spider-council again.
- There may be a work around for this. Either before you leave for Venderbight, or when you go back to the Neath to deal with your wounds from failing, use the Dueling the Black Ribbon storylet to raise a Running Battle... high enough that you have a bit of a cushion if you fail to defeat the spider-council a few times. (I went for 12.) The system that EBZ uses, only allows for one each of Running Battle..., Fascinating..., Casing..., and Investigating... at once. That means that you can use one storylet to raise the quality in order to complete another storylet. (This is also useful in Spite, when you can use the easier "Stealing Paintings for the Topsy King" storylet to raise a Casing... quality for the "The Big One" storylets until your Shadowy is higher.)
* Defeating the spider-council and confronting Carrywell gives 1 Fate.
* The Watchful challenge you (might?) unlock after speaking with (or trouncing?) Carrywell also needs at least Watchful 98 to be high-risk. This is not so bad, as you should have Myriad Keys from earlier in the story, which will give you +4 to Watchful. However, this is a content-boundary storylet. While it nets you a decent amount of cryptic secrets, it does not advance the ambition at the moment.
