SWTOR: Level 25!!!! And some stuff about Commendations and Modding
My Trooper is finally level 25, which means I get my speeder!!!!!

Which is a good thing, because Tatooine is pretty much built for you to have your speeder when you're there. It is all far away.
Training to use the speeder costs 40,000 credits, and the speeder itself costs 8,000, so if you're planning to play to 25 or higher, save save save at low levels. By the time I got to 25, I had about 60,000 credits saved up just from questing and looting/vendoring (ie. No Auction House usage). You could probably have a bit more if, unlike me, you didn't bother training new ranks in skills you don't use.
Then I went to Coruscant and turned in all my old commendations for lockboxes so I could sell some stuff on the AH/vendor it to get some credits back.
Which reminded me I wanted to talk about the Commendations thing, as well as custom gear. So let's do that.
Commendations are currency you get for performing specific objectives on various planets. Each planet has their own commendations. The commendations you have earned will show up in your Currency tab in your bags:

Commendations are generally optional quest rewards for most quests (ie. you can take a commendation if you have better gear in the slot already, or if it offers gear for a companion and that companion already has better gear). Many of the Heroic (multi-player) quests also give commendations as rewards. They can also drop off mobs in the zone (and seem to have a much higher drop rate on mobs in heroic areas). I have not done any Flashpoints, but have heard you can also get them from level-appropriate flashpoints/level-appropriate flashpoint quests.
Commendations can be spent at special vendors to buy gear (blue or custom), mods for gear (more on this in a bit), or lockboxes (which contain credits or BoE gear). I usually spend mine on mods, since I have 3 pieces of custom equipment.
Custom equipment is gear that has slots to put various item enhancements in. These items basically level with you, so if you really like the look of a custom item, you can keep using it for your entire leveling process. Generally if I find a custom piece for a slot, I hang onto it, since even if it's replaced by a blue for a short time, it can be modded later with higher level mods to make it better later.
This might make more sense if I just show you the gear:

The mods that are in the gear can be destroyed when replaced, or can be removed from the gear first for a small fee. Generally I go ahead and destroy the mods unless I can immediately move them to a different piece of gear.
If you have completely outleveled the zone, and none of the mods or equipment is an upgrade for you, the lockboxes are a good option to turn the commendations into credits.
