blah, wow

So, I'm getting pretty close to being able to roll a Death Knight. (I'm pretty comfortably into level 54 now.) You know, once I buy WotLK. Which I should do pretty soon, because eventually retribution paladins being overpowered is not going to outweigh my lack of glyphs (and gear, and skill, but WotLK can't fix those). SC is trying to get me to make one Horde-side on Boulderfist. I definitely want to go for a DPS spec, since I don't feel comfortable tanking yet. SC is encouraging me to go Blood, at least while leveling, due to the lack of health concerns/self-healing aspect. However, I'm mainly only seeing tanking specs around for Blood, since it's the preferred DK tanking tree. And Frost sounds like it could be pretty fun. So, I guess, is a mainly Blood DPS spec viable while leveling, and if so, is there some sort of sample/pre-made out there I can crib from? (I'd probably respec to Frost at 80/85 if I did this.) Or should I just suck it up and go Frost, and, like, pick up Herbalism and First Aid, and carry around a lot of health pots?

(Also, perhaps I'll feel ready to tank when I make my Worgen DK on my Alliance server come Cata. PERHAPS.)

Tooled around a bit with a druid today, just to kind of get a feel for it. (I made a nelf druid, but my for real druid will probably be a troll once they get druids.) Anyway, druids have the same problem hunters have at low levels, which is that they are not even the same class for the first ten levels as they are later. Like, a mage is pretty much always a mage. A paladin is pretty much always a paladin, even when all she has is a seal, a judgement, and some autoattacks. But a hunter without a pet is a guy with a gun backing away from mobs so they don't eat his face. If you want to be a feral druid, you gotta sit through, what, like 10 levels of being a caster?

I mean, I think when I eventually get my real druid to 85, she'll probably be dual-specced Balance/Resto, but for leveling? FERAL PLZ.

THIS IS MAINLY BECAUSE I AM IMMENSELY BAD AT SOLOING ANYTHING WITH A CASTER CLASS. I have like NEGATIVE SKILL AT KITING. And this is why my hunter is now my bank alt.

THINGS I NEED TO DO:
- set up Pally Power now that I have 2 of 3 of my Greater Blessings
- install Grid so I can actually play my Healer sometimes
- figure out if there is a way to macro my trinket-use to an ability used more frequently than the trinket's cooldown, so I don't forget to use my trinket. I thought I'd figured this out, but when I tried binding it and my Judgement together, it didn't work. (Or, rather, the whole thing ended up on the trinket's three minute CD, not Judgement's 8sec with a "I can't use that item" error message for the trinket while it's on cooldown.) Boo.

Ha, yeah, my warlock hit 55 and I was thinking about making a DK...until I remembered I don't have WotLK either. TBH I'm not really that interested in rolling one myself; I've never even bothered to look up the different trees, whereas I have a rough idea about basically everything else. Obviously I'll need to get it to play Cata (and the Worgen DKs do look killer) but I'm not rushing out right now.

The Hunter thing is fixed in Cata! You get a temp pet for the first ten levels (Worgen get awesome mastiffs) which is a pretty great idea. Although my very first character was a (Troll) hunter, so I have a soft spot. That boar isn't eating my face, it's just nibbling me playfully! It loves me!

Oh, I didn't know WotLK had new glyphs! I've kinda been jamming whatever ones seemed appropriate or were available in my 'lock (like, a minor one for increasing Unending Breath, which I think I've cast twice in 56 levels, but a more useful one for getting more Soul Shards as well) because I'm honestly not really bothered about UBER DPS (or at least I wasn't, until some jerk spammed some sort of DPS meter in a BRD PUG. At least I beat the healer and tank? :D?), but I could do with paying it a bit more attention. And, like you said, working out macros for my trinkets.

Yeah, the new trees for pets seems pretty awesome. My little moth could kind of be a paladin! How cute is that! Plus with the Trolls getting a completely re-done starting area, rolling a new Troll hunter is seeing more and more likely.

...after the Worgen rogue and Tauren paladin, of course.

And that kill 60 quillboars? I've never done it, with all the characters I've taken through the Barrens, but they're KILLING OFF that quest-giver so I might just go do it for completion's sake. :D

No, you should be able to use inscription/glyphs with just the base game. At level 52 you should have room for two major and two minor. IDK why you'd not be able to use them; I thought you were saying WotLK had new ones. :/ Maybe worth checking out why you can't?

I was annoyed about the DPS meter until I realised I was in a dungeon where about a quarter of the mobs were immune to or resisted fire damage, which is a fair chunk of my output. At least that's how I consoled myself. Really I'm just a mediocre player with no care for theorycrafting or whatever they call it.

From what I understand, every pet family will still have it's own special ability, but you'll be able to train them up in healer/tank/DPS trees. So I don't actually know if you can replicate a paladin, but I really love the idea. :D A little holy moth (who already has a self heal and attack power buff)!

Oh man, Holycow! People will love that, I bet. There's just something really appealing to me (both mechanics wise and lorewise) about paladin Tauren. Palauren? Tauradin?

Oh, sorry, I was wrong! I'm sure I read about some semi-infamous questgiver beingdead in Cata, though...
