impending altaholism.

Okay, folks! I need input! WHAT SHOULD I LEVEL AFTER I'VE GOT HONOR DONE? I can make more Alliance toons, or I can start leveling a Horde toon on another server to hang out with other friends of mine. Downside is that I don't have as much gold Hordeside, and it's a PvP server. I really, really love melee DPS, so I'm mostly leaning toward kitty druid, enhancement shaman, or fury warrior at the moment, but I have MANY INTERESTS, and possibly I should branch out.

Toons I already have made and have played around with a bit
* Blood Elf holy paladin - currently level 19. I just have not been feeling the love on him, plus Honor's second spec might wind up being holy, since she'll be mostly running with SC's tankadin. I guess I could always respec him prot and try baby's first tanking with him?
* Draenei discipline priest - currently level 12. Might respec Holy depending on how I do as disc.
* Troll shaman - currently level 8. Probably going to go Enhancement? Although Elemental also looks fun.
* Troll mage - currently level 6 and I am REALLY BAD at magery. I'd probably level as Frost, although Fire looks HELLA LOLZY.
* Troll death knight - I've done about three quests with her, so she's still in her starting zone. No clue what I'd want to do with her, either. I just sort of made her to experience the story.

Toons I have made right now, but haven't played
* Orc hunter. I'd like to try beast mastery with her, I think. I'm not even going to touch her until new talent trees drop and hunters get starter pets, because right now the first ten levels of huntering SUCK SO HARD.
* Draenei warrior. Fury, unless I FOR SOME REASON decide that I should prot warrior my first tank. LOLOLOL. (No, really, SC actualy sat down and did a heroic with his prot warrior to show me how it goes. I think he was trying to scare me, but I was like BUT HE IS SO COOOOL.) I'm not that interested in Arms, but I could probably be convinced to try it.

Toons I can't make until Cata
* Troll druid. She'll be feral, but I haven't decided between kitty or bear.
* Worgen druid. Resto or boomkin.
* Goblin warlock. Probably affliction, although demo looks fun too.
* Dwarf shaman. If I don't have the troll very leveled, or if I want to try another spec.

I also admit, one day I'm going to make an undead shadow priest and I am going to MELT FACES.

I love my troll mage so much. That said, it takes a certain amount of masochism to get through, um. Well, I don't know how bad the 40s suck anymore for a Horde-side mage? But for me it sucked variously until I hit my 50s. It *really* sucked the first 15-20 levels or so, hello TISSUE PAPER MAGE. Get used to corpse-runs til you get the hang of it?

But once you get through the suck, it's FUN! And actually there's fun bits throughout all the suck, too. Like taking on single-target quests that are theoretically well over your head. Also, being able to port yourself (and later, others) to the major cities is awesome. And free food and water is sort of necessary but awesome when you're lower level. (The food gets much less necessary at the higher levels, and the water gets less necessary.)

Work on your pulls, is all I can say, in terms of making it suck less til you hit higher levels. Once you learn how to pull only the single mob you wanted, it's so, SO much easier to level a mage. It's tedious, yes, but you don't DIE which is more tedious and annoying.

Also, re: fire, I tried that spec once oh my god that was such a bad idea for me I was TERRIBLE at it and died so hard. Frost is awesome for survivability but the lowest actual DPS. I'm specced Frost with a side-order of Arcane after I got my Water Elemental. Water Elemental? AWESOME. I get a PET that's basically a DPS buff for me, and when I fuck up my pulls, functions to handle tanking at least one of the mobs, so I don't diiiiiie. (Actually forgot to mention: it's MORE awesome than a pet in that, if it dies, I just resummon it and don't have to give a damn what it thinks of me! IT IS MY MINION MUAHAHAHAHA. Which means if I need to bail, I can just, um, start running and abandon the sucker.)

I seriously cannot imagine leveling a mage as anything but Frost, seriously, oh my god. SO MUCH MORE SURVIVABLE.

Seriously, though, once you learn to manage the hell out of your pulls, it gets to be not bad to level a mage, just tedious. Also, bright side, if you ever want to run for flight paths underleveled as hell, knowing your aggro distances inside out helps a lot! Also, actually, mages are very well suited to it, due to Blink. Blink is awesome. And much later on, um, forget the proper name for it, but you fade to invisibility and thereby lose all aggro, that's massively helpful too.

Also, heh. I change my hairstyle every so often in the game because it entertains me to do so. Usually between the braids and the ponytail, but yeah. I love her so much, she is FIERCE. ...yeah, so, it makes me sad I can't get tuskier tusks through the barbershop, omg, WANT TUSKS. If I could get some of the male tusks on her I'd be ALL OVER THAT. TUSKS.

Anyway. :D
