Comics!

So I'm waiting for a Secret Canadian to arrive so I can take him to see Iron Man 2, but he won't be getting here for a while, so instead let's talk about comic books!

The Brave and the Bold #33: Wonder Woman, Zatanna, and Batgirl
I picked this up on the recommendation of my FLCDude who apparently has learned that I like ladies? I'm not sure how I feel about the story, or rather, the implications of the story? I think I liked it, but despite being disabled myself, I tend to miss ableism failures a lot, you know? So while I didn't think it was faily on that front, if other people had issues with it, I'm happy to listen. It did have lots of ladies talking to other ladies about things that we're dudes and it was about ladies being friends and caring about each other, and that was pretty great.

I also really liked Cliff Chiang's art and would like to see more of it.

JSA All-Stars #6
So the Al/Courtney business was actually a giant cop-out because that "Al" was actually a ~disguised~ Johnny Sorrow. I'm not sure if I'm glad that the JSA titles are still not going there, or kind of annoyed at them for not going there if it's so clear that at least some of the creators behind the titles obviously want to.

I also found the harping on Courtney's ~purity~ kind of skeevy.

On the other hand, Courtney having to go into the King of Tears to stab its heart and being all "No big deal, it's just a giant, godlike monster from another dimension. Which I am now inside. DDDD:" was basically amazing and I love her so much.

Other news: King Chimera is growing on me like a fungus, and I kind of died a little at him patiently listening to Cyclone giving him a play-by-play of how awesome Wicked is.

Grant and Tom having a manly heart-to-heart while fighting various creatures from the Subtle Realms: ALSO GREAT.

I also really, really love the Hourman/Liberty Belle back-up story still. And I wish Travis Moore could do the art for the main JSA: All-Stars story because I still am not on board with Freddie Williams II's style.

Brightest Day #1 sucked. SHOCKER. Like, THIS STORY DOES NOT NEED TO BE AS MANY ISSUES LONG AS IT IS GOING TO BE.

Green Lantern Corps #47 left me kind of cold but I think that's maybe because I haven't been following this team for the whole run of it so I'm not 100% on who these people are? I like how Guy basically still thinks Arisia is kick-ass, though.

I almost picked up Superman #699 and Last Stand of New Krypton #3 on Wednesday. I had them in my hands, and then I said to myself, "Self, you whine about this storyline every time you read it. Maybe you should just not buy it. You don't even care what's going to happen." So I put them back on the shelves. So, uh, did anyone important die or anything? Did they rescue the bottled cities?
