nerrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrd

I'm currently borrowing the Warhammer 40K: Dark Heresy core book so I can look at the stuff and get ideas for a character and make plans and whatnot. I'm like 99.9% sure I'll play an Imperial Psyker because anything where you can fuck up something innocuous and accidentally wind up possessed by a demon sounds awesome. My plan is to be a Diviner, but who knows? I might get distracted by Telepaths again. It happens. The ones in this universe have trouble keeping a stable personality, which could be fun times.

My point here is that there is a table in this book where you can randomly roll a name if you have no fucking clue what to call your character, and one of the possible first names for a lady character is Plath. OH I SEE.

I have been so shit at fandom lately, guys. Sorry! I will endeavor to do better in the future.

On that note, I saw Iron Man 2 on Friday night, and there was this awesome crowd at the movie theatre. Including a guy who was like "WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT" at the Super 8 viral trailer, and the little kid behind me who was like "OH NO IRON MAN IS DEAD" like twelve times throughout the movie. I was so worried about the Black Widow casting, but Natasha was SO GREAT, you guys. SO GREAT. All the parts with Vanko and Hammer made me laugh SO HARD. Honestly, I laughed SO HARD a lot. Don Cheadle's Rhodey is different, but also good! PEPPER FUCKING POTTS.

A lot of people have said they liked it, but not as much as the first movie, but I actually liked it more than the first movie, although I can't really put my finger on why. The only thing I really didn't like in this movie was Tony and Pepper kissing, at which point I leaned over to the Secret Canadian and just said "NOOOOOOOOOO. You are too great for him, Pepper! DON'T DO IT." Which I guess is funny, because I love Tony/Pepper fic, but let me tell you about things that are awesome in fic, but not as much in canon! Tony/Pepper is one of those things for me! I HAD NO IDEA.

And speaking of Iron Man! [personal profile] atrata wrote this story called Almost No One Makes It Out, which is the AU Tony Stark isn't filthy rich. It's really interesting, and I liked it a lot.

I was so fucking upset by the end, which I totally chalked up to just me being pissy that all my fic was jossed by them getting together (THAT IS THE PROBLEM WITH ONLY WRITING HOW-THEY-GET-TOGETHER FIC). But I realized IN A STUNNING FLASH OF INSIGHT that the reason why I hated it instead of just was kind of sad that it jossed my fic but super excited that it was canon is that I am 100% positive that they're going to take everything I love about the pairing and throw it out, the way it always happens when couples with that dynamic get together. AND IT JUST MAKES ME SO ANGRY BECAUSE THERE'S SO MUCH BULLSHIT MISOGYNY INVOLVED IN WHY THEY ARE COMFORTABLE WRITING THAT DYNAMIC WHEN THE TWO PEOPLE ARE FRIENDS, BUT NOT WHEN THEY ARE PARTNERS. FUCK YOU WORLD.

IT MAKES ME SO FUCKING ANGRY YOU HAVE NO IDEA. NO IDEA. AND LIKE, EVEN FUCKING PEOPLE WHO SHOULD FUCKING KNOW BETTER THINK LIKE THAT. I mean, half the reason why I fucking hate established relationship fic is that it's WEIRDLY HARD to find the actual dynamic continued in the fic, like removing the sexual tension removes 30% of the dynamic, which SO MUCH NO. SO, SO MUCH NO. WHAT THE HELL PEOPLE.
