Comics for the last two weeks! In the order I read them.

You can tell I saved the things I was most excited about for the end. I do that.

Brightest Day #2
I really need to get off this piece of shit book. Remind me to see if that's possible or if my FLCS has already ordered all my issues for me, and therefore I am required to buy them. NEVER PUT THINGS ON YOUR PULL LIST, DUDES AND LADIES. WORD TO THE WISE.

Anyway, I have to admit when the thing wearing mommy's skin tore her skin off and then killed the rest of the family with Rock Band equipment, I officially started laughing so hard, because the book just went from TERRIBLE AND ~*~EDGY~*~ to SO TERRIBLE AND ~*~EDGY~*~ IT HAS TO BE A PARODY. RIGHT? RIGHT? (See also: Secret Canadian and I choosing to experience the Warhammer 40000 universe as a comedy.)

My point is that this is the stupidest comic of all time.

Justice League of America #45
The art on this title is SO BAD, you guys. First of all, oh my god, that cover art is HIDEOUS. Also, dude, I am fairly sure anything sponsored by the modern German government like, I assume, die Rakete-Auslese would be, would TRY A LOT HARDER TO NOT LOOK LIKE THE THIRD REICH IS ABOUT TO CALL AND ASK FOR THEIR OUTFITS BACK. Also, why does Ted Grant's outfit not have ears? :(

I spent like the entire issue being like WHAT IS GOING ON.

The things I do for you, Jen.

Green Lantern #54
I really like Atrocitus and his cat. A LOT. I want like fifty icons of that cat.

The pages of Hal and Carol trying to lift the White Lantern were kind of hilarious. Hal looked like he was really constipated, and Carol was just like, honey, I don't think that is good lifting form. You're going to throw your back out. (Perhaps being able to hit all the T&A poses without throwing your back out is one of the lesser Star Sapphire powers.) On the plus side, I laughed pretty hard at Sinestro mocking Hal/Carol. :D? :D?

Also, RANDOM LOBO FOR NO REASON.

Green Lantern Corps #48
I think I was supposed to read this before GL #54? I am not sure! Things seemed like the time was off, but not so much I couldn't read it.

I am not sure how I feel about Ganthet becoming a Green Lantern, but I think that I think it is hilarious. I also like that John is in this issue, and running around architecting. Honestly, I would read a whole issue that was just John running around architecting the rebuilding of Oa. But I also think comics need more breather issues in general. I really hope that GL Corps will actually follow John's adventures with Boodikka, because basically THAT SOUNDS AWESOME.

Um. Will someone explain to me what Alpha Lanterns are?

Girl Comics #2
I just love that this comic exists. So much history about ladies in comics! Lots of artists and writers I've never read/seen in addition to the big names!

Also -- "FACE IT, BABY. You just hit the jackpot." LOLING FOREVER.

Justice League: Generation Lost #2
For some reason, it is really hard for me to type the title of this book. I don't know why, but I typo it like four times every time. Anyway, this title is so stupid, but in the way that I kind of like it, as opposed to just thinking it's a waste of my time.

The art this issue is completely different and I kind of hate it. I do, however, love that the alternate image of Wonder Woman is totally her being all She-Ra: Princess of Power, which is PRETTY APPROPRIATE.

Max's mind-control explanations for things are fucking hilarious, by the way. Except "Ted Kord killed himself" which made me ;_; even though I KNOW THAT IT IS NOT TRUE. (And Booster's little DDDD: face at that. ;_;)

I liked Booster and Dick having a conversation. I like to imagine they mostly talk about how hard it is being really, really good looking.

I still get SUPER PISSED OFF when people talk about Wonder Woman killing Max Lord and call it "murder." DUDES IT WAS NOT MURDER. It's like when a cop shoots a criminal who is about to try to kill other people. I just really wish that DC Comics would allow for people to have lots of varying opinions on what amount of violence is okay, instead of basically having just one thing that is okay. It doesn't allow for "sometimes a dude has to die" and it doesn't allow for things like Don Hall's pacifism and basically IT IS SUPER STUPID.

I wish the people who know what is really going on would, like, talk to a telepath. MAYBE J'ONN KNOWS WHAT IS GOING ON, DUDES. TALK TO HIM.

Hard truth: I laughed really hard at Booster needing no discrediting. Mostly because Skeets is so harsh about it.

I am so excited that now there will be a Jaime in this book! But I am sad that Jaime's home got sploded again. :( If anything happens to his family, I will be pissed. I also really hope that if Ted somehow comes back from the dead, Jaime will remain Blue Beetle. Ted can either ALSO be Blue Beetle, or be a helpful adviser type.

Legion of Super-Heroes #1
I was so excited this title was coming back, and then I was REALLY SAD that it is ~*~EDGY~*~ and CHILDREN ARE DYING, AND THEY KILLED A BUNCH OF TELEPATHS JUST TO BE ASSHOLES AND I AM REALLY UNCLEAR ABOUT WHAT IS GOING ON AND I AM REALLY FUCKING SICK OF GREEN LANTERNS BEING EVERYWHERE. SERIOUSLY.

Also, can we get some more of the Legionnaires who are not white up in here? Or make some new ones up or something? This whole thing is starting to get really grating. Also, I know that Legion is usually about the T&A, but Dawnstar's boob window is KIND OF RIDICULOUS.

I like Imra's short hair, though. :D?

Power Girl #12
I always save this book for last because I know it is not going to piss me off. THIS BOOK IS SO GREAT AND I LOVE IT AND IT IS HAPPY AND PEOPLE ARE NICE TO EACH OTHER AND POWER GIRL AND TERRA ARE FRIENDS AND VARTOX IS HILARIOUS AND POWER GIRL ALWAYS TRIES TO DO THE RIGHT THING AND THERE IS A CAT AND WHY CAN'T MORE COMIC BOOKS BE LIKE THIS ONE YOU GUYS? WHY?

Unless your FLCS is run by assholes (always a possibility, and probably more common than not, but my old FLCS wasn't run by this kind of asshole), you should be able to drop the book without much fuss - the copies that would've been yours specifically will just go on the rack instead. You're under no obligation to keep buying books that offend you - you're not even under obligation to buy books that bore you - and anyone that tells you different, especially if they're a comics retailer, is full of shit.

(Back when I bought comics frequently, I had to remind myself of this fact rather frequently, which is why that sounds so hardline and rehearsed; I needed the guideline firm or I'd forget. My FLCS didn't care if I dropped a book, though - the only one that needed to be told this was my own head.)

Also there is a reason my favorite WH40K books are the Caiaphas Cain books; they're basically a comedy of errors, ONLY IN THE GRIMDRAK FUTURE THERE IS ONLY WAR, so instead war becomes a constant Shakespearean Flashman-style farce.

I ... have no thoughts on anything else, as I haven't read any of these books and only PG has ever sounded like something I want to risk reading. :(

I own the original Terra mini! It is made of the warm fuzzies. Unfortunately the PG series got collected after I stopped wanting to buy DC stuff (and well after I'd stopped buying singles), and I'm ... uhm. I don't ... actually know anywhere outside of 4chan that I can get Western superhero comics downloads from anymore.

BASICALLY, yes, those are the Caiaphas Cain books in a nutshell.

I wish I could say I expected BRIGHTEST DAY to turn out to be anything but a lie and an excuse for further devolution of the DCU. :(
